MY STORY
Q.- When you graduate from the University of Arkansas with a BSBA in Accounting, what do you do next?
I began a business career selling life insurance, of course. Why did I start there? Long story, but a big part of it was that I already had lots of selling experience. To pay for my college I sold Bible reference books door-to-door for four summers, resulting in over 10,000 face-to-face conversations with prospective customers.
As 1994 rolled around, I morphed into the employee benefits insurance sector and eventually sold my business to a large national firm. I retired from them in 2021 and landed this present gig of ...CONSULTING.
So yes, old life insurance guys don't retire, they become consultants.
An interesting additional thing in my journey is that I have visited 24 foreign countries as a result of winning insurance incentive trips plus church related mission trips. The result here is that I have talked with thousands of people from all over the world. It's been fascinating to discover how so many cultures different from us share the same heart values when you get down to it.
The bottom line to this story is that I've become a great listener from conversing with thousands of people from all over the world. With this background, I can hear you.
